‘Incredible’ – Champions League finalist hails unprecedented Celtic achievement

Liverpool left-back and Champions League finalist Andy Robertson has saluted Celtic after the Hoops became the first team in Scottish football history to win back to back domestic trebles.

The 24-year-old, who is a noted Celtic fan and is set to start for Liverpool against Real Madrid in the Champions League final, took to his personal Twitter account to pay tribute to the Hoops.

“Double treble winners, incredible achievement” he said.

Brendan Rodgers’ side made history after comfortably defeating Motherwell 2-0 in the Scottish Cup Final thanks to goals from Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham.

The Bhoys were 2-0 ahead at half-time and never looked in any danger of letting their lead slip.

Football Insider verdict

You can tell that this is a major achievement for the Hoops when even ‘celebrity’ fans are congratulating the team, and to be honest it is an incredible achievement from Brendan Rodgers’ side, to have managed to win six domestic trophies out of six since the former Liverpool man was appointed manager. When the big games have come around the Hoops have always been up for them, and their record against Rangers and Aberdeen over the last two seasons proves that. As the team starts to break up, it will be interesting to see how the new additions which come in to Parkhead adapt to what is a winning mentality at the club, where every game has to be won and even a draw is a crisis at times. The Hoops’ winning mentality has shone through in the last two seasons, and as long as Rodgers remains in charge of the Hoops that mentality won’t be changing any time soon.
