Injury expert issues ‘severe’ Gianluca Scamacca verdict as West Ham decide on ‘plasma treatment’
Gianluca Scamacca should be fit for West Ham within two or three weeks after taking three PRP injections that accelerate the healing of his knee injury.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Scamacca hasn’t completed 90 minutes for West Ham in the Premier League since late December, with issues with his knee ruling him out for the Hammers.

David Moyes revealed that the 24-year-old Italian forward is doing “fine” in his recovery and that his third and final PRP injection was scheduled for last Wednesday.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are a form of regenerative medicine used in sports science and medicine.
Dinnery explained that the injections are used to accelerate the player’s healing and body response by using the player’s own blood platelets.
“It’s a plasma treatment that concentrates the player’s platelets and injects them into the site area,” Dinnery told Football Insider.
“It’s used to accelerate the healing and to quicken the body’s response.
“So that’s why West Ham decided on that particular method.
“Moyes is fairly hopeful that it will help the injury become less severe with those injections.

“But, as with any injury or setback, there are no guarantees that it will return Scamacca to full fitness straight away.
“Realistically, he’ll be targeting a return to the starting lineup in two or three weeks.“
