Insider: Omole could make Tottenham debut against Newcastle after source's update

Tobi Omole could make the bench when Tottenham play Newcastle United this weekend – and even be handed his senior debut.

That’s according to John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, claims the defender is a talent.

Football Insider revealed on 7 October that Omole, 21, has been promoted to train with the first-team squad after impressing Nuno Espirito Santo.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Nuno has taken a liking to the Omole and has made it clear he regards him as capable of landing a new contract.

This comes as Tottenham face a potential crisis in their defence with several players expected to miss this weekend’s game.

Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Emerson Royal are all doubts for the game, paving the way for Omole to at least make the bench.

Wenham insists that whatever happens, Omole will learn from just being in and around the matchday squad.

“Some of the younger players will make that matchday squad,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Omole is the kind of player who is ideal to come in. We will be short of central defenders.

“He’s a top young talent, as I’ve said before, and when you make that squad anything can happen.

“He has to be ready if the call comes. Injuries happen. We could see him take that step this weekend.

“I think it’s unlikely but you never know. Whatever happens, it will be a brilliant experience for the young man.”

Omole’s current deal will expire at the end of the season.

He has made five appearances in the Premier League 2 this season.
