Insider: Premier League could ‘force Tottenham into insane position’ with ‘crazy’ plan
The Premier League could force Tottenham to play through a “crazy” fixture schedule after their game against Burnley was postponed,
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham confirmed their Premier League clash with Burnley was postponed with 45 minutes to go before kick-off.
As of yet, a new date for the fixture has not been confirmed.
As it stands, Tottenham face six games in just 17 days at one point in December
Wenham admits the league could force Spurs to play out a “crazy” scenario to accommodate the postponed fixture.
“I’ve had a quick look at the schedule,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s not good. We will probably be playing in a Conference League playoff because of that loss to Mura.
“There are two games we really didn’t need. It’s a really tough situation.
“I’ve been looking forward and I can’t find a three-day gap to play that game until February.
“We have games all the time at the moment. Unless the Premier League come up with a crazy scenario to fit that game in.
“We saw it a few years ago with Liverpool when the senior side was playing in the Club World Cup and the youth side played against Villa in the cup.
“Who knows, it wouldn’t surprise me if the league forced us into an insane position. It’s happened to us before.

“We once played Sevilla away in the Europa League and somehow got selected for the early fixture on the Saturday.
“That was Chelsea and we lost in the last minute, these things have an impact.”
