Insider salutes Thiago Silva as new behind-the-scenes Chelsea details revealed
Ben Dinnery has praised Thiago Silva’s “elite mentality” at Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the medical expert, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, delivered his verdict after Silva revealed the lengths he goes to keep fit.
The centre-back, who turned 38 last week (22 September), has played every minute in the Premier League for Chelsea this season.

He told club media on his birthday that all he thinks about after training is how he can prepare himself for the next day.
“Gone are the days where you essentially play a game, have a couple days of downtime and are back,” Dinnery told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“This is 24/7 and for players of the ilk of Thiago Silva who have reached the twilight years of his career, to maintain that level of performance, fitness and availability requires around-the-clock discipline and focus, that elite mentaltiy.
“He’s just been away with the Brazilian national team. It’s not just the physical demands, it’s the stress on the mind, body, family and relationships. Managing all of those.
“To keep on playing and have longevity, you can’t afford to let your guard down or let things slip too often because you won’t be able to maintain that.
“I think that gives you a brief glimpse into the life of Thiago Silva and his focus on trying to maintain and continue his career for as long as possible.”

Silva moved to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.
The 108-cap Brazil international has played 89 times across all competitions for Chelsea and has won the Champions League with the club.
In other news, a finance guru has claimed that Chelsea rivals are not taking Todd Boehly seriously as details of a private meeting emerge.
