Insider: Lo Celsco could leave Tottenham ‘next week’ as ‘something is agreed’

Giovanni Lo Celso could leave Tottenham as soon as next week after failing to make the bench against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 23 December, Antonio Conte was quoted by Football.London as saying Lo Celso was fit enough to play for Tottenham.

He had been suffering with a knee injury.

However, the midfielder was on the bench for recent games against Liverpool and West Ham but was not included in the squad for Boxing Day’s win over Crystal Palace.

Wenham predicts Tottenham have already agreed a deal for Lo Celso to depart in January.

“Lo Celso didn’t even make the bench against Palace,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I hope we have something lined up for him next week.

“He is our second most expensive signing ever and he’s always unavailable.

“Somehow he’s always fit and available for Argentina and he always performs for them.

“It would be good if we offloaded him as soon as possible, maybe it is the case that something is agreed.

“It would make sense if he wasn’t even on the bench. Conte said he was fit and back training.

“There is no other reason for him to not be on the bench. Even Winks is ahead of him seemingly.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Lo Celso goes very early on in January.”

Tottenham

Lo Celso has made 14 appearances for Spurs this season.

He has scored one goal and provided one assist.

In other news, an insider has been told by “multiple sources” that Tottenham are “confident” of agreeing a new contract with Harry Kane.
