Insider: Tottenham duo told to leave after ‘very clear message’ from Conte

Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele have been sent the “clear message” they can leave Tottenham despite starting against Liverpool on 19 December.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Alli and Ndombele, 25, started as Spurs drew 2-2 with Liverpool in a move that raised eyebrows.

Ndombele has not featured since, while Alli was given 62 minutes against Southampton on 28 December but failed to impress.

Both players were unused subs at Tottenham scrapped a last-gasp win against Watford on New Year’s Day.

Wenham insists Antonio Conte’s reluctance to use either player from the bench proves they have no future at the club.

“It’s very obvious now that the midfield Conte selected against Liverpool was a last resort for him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Don’t get me wrong, they both played well but we haven’t seen much from either player since.

“The last two games we have been dying to create something and he’s not turned to Ndombele or Alli off the bench.

“That tells you where their long-term future is really at. I think that tells you all you need to know.

“I know some fans had hopes we would keep one of them but if Conte didn’t think they could break down a poor Watford side. that says it all.

“It was a very clear message to both players, I think.”
