Insider: Tottenham to put Emerson Royal up for sale after major development this week
Emerson Royal could be put up for sale by Tottenham in the summer with Matt Doherty impressing in recent weeks.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Royal, 23, has dropped to the bench for Spurs’ last two Premier League games.
This came after a run of poor performances with Tottenham losing four from five games across January and February.
Wenham has praised Fabio Paratici’s transfer dealings with Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski already key players.
However, he suggested there will be plenty of suitors if Spurs want to part with Royal in the summer.
“Bentancur and Kulusevski were outstanding against Everton,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It shows how smart investment can make a huge difference. Three of our signings this season are in the conversation for the first name on the teamsheet in Romero, Bentancur and Kulusevski.
“To touch on other signings Paratici has made, Gil is out at Valencia increasing his value.
“Gollini is only a loan and he will simply be sent back if he isn’t up to the required level but we won’t lose anything.
“Pape Sarr is developing nicely out in France. The jury is still out on Royal but he’s a Brazil international.
“We maybe need to give him time or if we do choose to sell him, there will be plenty of suitors.
“The recruitment under Paratici is a phenomenal improvement.”
Royal has made 30 appearances for Tottenham.
He has failed to score and registered one assist.
