Insider: Tottenham to sell Sanchez for ‘optimal value’ after ‘brilliant’ development

Tottenham can sell Davinson Sanchez for his “optimal value” in January after his improvement under Antonio Conte.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Sanchez, 25, scored a last-gasp winner as Tottenham won 1-0 against Watford on New Year’s Day.

The defender has been a mainstay in recent weeks following an injury to summer signing Cristian Romero.

He was widely criticised for his performance in Spurs’ shock loss to European minnows Mura on 25 November.

He has since scored twice and Wenham claims if Tottenham were to sell the player in January the club could demand a hefty fee.

“Conte has done such a brilliant job of rebuilding the confidence of these players,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Sanchez is now back in and without Romero, he is part of our strongest defence.

“He is playing very, very well. Over the summer I expected Sanchez to leave.

“It seems like we are now getting him back to his optimal value. If he was to go, we could demand far more than we could have a few weeks ago.

“He has never let anyone down and he’s scored himself two league goals now which is decent for a centre-half.

“We really needed those points against Watford and he popped up when he was needed.”

Sanchez has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season.

He has made 167 outings for the side since joining in the summer of 2017.
