Ipswich fans give verdicts on Leeds loan ace Diagouraga
By Harvey Byrne
Leeds loanee Toumani Diagouraga has been hailed by the Ipswich faithful for the difference he has made to their team.
The 29-year-old was sent out to the second tier side in January after making just one appearance under Garry Monk for Leeds which came in the opening day 3-0 defeat to QPR.
He was considered a crucial player under Steve Evans in the previous campaign after joining from Brentford in the January 2016 window and it looks as though he has rediscovered his form with Mick McCarthy’s team.
The Frenchman has played in three matches since his move, which includes a 1-1 and 2-2 draw against both Preston and Reading respectively.
But, it was against Aston Villa where he caught the applause from the Tractor Boys crowd and many believe he was a good find in the winter window.
The Suffolk-based side had conceded six goals in three league matches before Diagouraga signed and many noted the way their side have changed since the defensive midfielder has stepped in.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Leeds are currently enduring a poor run of form which has brought defeats against Sutton in the FA Cup alongside losses against Cardiff and Huddersfield in their last four games.
The Yorkshire giants will also be without Liam Bridcutt in their midfield for their match against Bristol City on Tuesday after his red card on Saturday.
It is unlikely that Diagouraga would have made a difference to the poor form due to his frozen out status, but Monk may have been too quick to get him out of the side.
