‘Isak’s agent to demand £350k-£500k-a-week from Newcastle if bid rejected’
Alexander Isak has been backed to demand a huge new contract from Newcastle United if the club reject transfer offers for him this summer.
The striker enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 campaign to help Eddie Howe‘s side win the League Cup and qualify for the Champions League after a year away.
That though, has inevitably attracted considerable interest in the Sweden international from elsewhere, with the transfer market now open.
Liverpool have been credited with a strong interest in Isak recently, although they will face a fight to secure his services.
It has also been suggested that Newcastle are baffled by any suggestions they will sell Isak this summer, valuing him at £150milllion, but keeping him could force the club to spend big.

Alexander Isak tipped for big new contract
As things stand, there are three years remaining on the 25-year-old’s contract at St James’ Park, securing his future until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has apparently told Newcastle to take a “not for sale” stance over Isak this summer, which does mean his contract will continue to run down.
That will put the club under pressure to sell in the future to avoid the risk of losing him for free in the summer of 2028, if he does not sign a new deal.
But while that does put a new contract on the agenda, Jason Cundy believes Newcastle would have to give the striker a major wage hike to match their valuation of him.
Speaking about possible bids and a potential new contract for Isak on talkSPORT, the former Chelsea man said: “If they turn that down [a £130million offer for Isak], fine.
“If you’re his agent, you’re going to Newcastle and saying ‘you’re telling me he’s worth over £130million, well then pay him the wages that are equivalent to a £150/160million player. “He should go and ask for £500,000 per week…
“Newcastle valuing him at one of the most expensive players in the world right now, well then that has to reflect in his wage now.
“So you can’t value him at this value and expect to pay him below market value. So if he’s on £150,000 per week now, I would say, well over £350,000 per week if they value him at over £150million. I think that’s fair.”
Newcastle United have a balance to find with new contract
Football Insider Verdict
There is no doubt that the Magpies are going to have to increase Isak’s pay if they are to get him to sign a new contract.
The striker will be well aware of how in demand he is, and so will also know that other clubs will be willing to pay him more than what he is currently on at Newcastle.
With that in mind, those at St James’ Park will have to come up with a major offer to convince him to extend that deal, given what he could earn and achieve elsewhere.
However, one man does not make a team, and so they will have to be careful not to invest too much of their budget on Isak alone.
That could leave Newcastle finding it hard to keep together a squad that is strong enough all-round to keep the club pushing for more trophies and European qualification.
With that in mind, they may have to be aware of the fact that there will be a risk associated with what they can offer Isak, if and when they do open those contract talks.
