Stuart Armstrong livid with one moment in Celtic win v Ross County, says what upset him most
Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong was livid after an ugly challenge on Hoops skipper Scott Brown became the major talking point of the Bhoys’ 3-0 win over Ross County.
Brown was the victim of a crude stamping by County’s Andrew Davies, an incident which saw Davies sent-off without any complaints.
Armstrong revealed to the Scottish Sun why the challenge annoyed him so much, as he confronted Davies directly after the stamp.
“It didn’t look nice. What upset me most is that it was really late. It was too late to be a natural tackle but Scott is fine. He is a brave boy,” he said.
Armstrong made his first Hoops start of 2018 in the match, and rounded off a fine display with a goal, his fifth of the season.
The 26-year-old has been a mainstay of the Bhoys side this season with 35 appearances so far, and if he keeps up the level of performance he showed against the Dingwall side he could be a huge player as the Hoops aim to complete the domestic treble.
Football Insider verdict
Armstrong was doing what all good team-mates do and was standing up for Brown when it looked like he could have been badly injured. That shows that the spirit in the Hoops squad is good as the Bhoys enter the last few weeks of the season in their quest for another domestic treble. As for Armstrong, he was superb against the league’s bottom side, a throwback to his excellent performances from last season, and if he continues in a similar vein of form for the rest of the season the clamour will grow for him to be awarded a new contract.
