‘It’s amazing’ – Stefan Borson ‘surprised’ by Arne Slot development at Liverpool
Arne Slot is looking to come through his most challenging period as the Liverpool manager following a disappointing run of form.
Liverpool backed Slot with multiple new signings in the recent summer transfer window, with the club spending £446million.
It is understood Liverpool have been in talks with Slot about a new contract as his current deal is set to expire in June 2027.
However, questions have been asked about whether that is the right move following the Reds’ recent form.
Liverpool lost six out of seven games in all competitions before beating Aston Villa 2-0 on Saturday (1 November), bringing their four-game losing streak in the Premier League to an end.

Liverpool to make Arne Slot contract decision
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he’s been “surprised” by the noise surrounding Slot.
Liverpool claimed the Premier League title in the Dutch manager’s first season at Anfield, having replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2024.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Liverpool’s contract talks with Slot, Borson said: “You would think that everything would carry on. You would take a view and say, ‘Well, this is just how football goes sometimes’.
“There’s quite a lot of noise. I am actually surprised by the level of general noise that sort of follows him around.
“Maybe that’s the social media thing and not in the actual real fanbase, but it seems to me to be a bit over the top. I mean, of course, it’s very poor in terms of losing six out of seven, but they won the title not too long ago.”

Liverpool have moved up to third in the Premier League table following their victory over Aston Villa, but they remain seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Slot backed to turn things around at Liverpool
Borson has insisted Liverpool’s recent form isn’t a major issue as he backed them to turn things around.
“They’ve got fantastic players,” said Borson.
“I still think that the players they signed this summer will turn out to be successes. I don’t think personally there’s any major issue.

“To win the title in the first season, I think it’s unfair to say it’s just Klopp and you should discount it as somebody else’s team. I think that’s very unfair.
“I mean, to win the league is an amazing achievement.”
Liverpool are now preparing to take on Real Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday (4 November).
