‘It’s inevitable’ – Wolves tipped to sack Vitor Pereira after ‘massive’ claim

Wolves have endured a disastrous start to the season so far at Molineux and concerns are beginning to grow about Vitor Pereira’s long-term future.

Pereira‘s side lost 2-0 to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on 18 October, meaning they are now winless in eight league games this season.

Despite having picked up some impressive points and suffered late equalisers against both Brighton and Tottenham, doubts about their recent results are lingering.

Sections of the fanbase have begun to call for the manager’s head, while they are slowly being cut adrift at the bottom of the league table.

However, despite the questions being asked of him, Pereira signed a new deal at Molinuex last month, which seemed to be a vote of confidence from the board.

Vitor Pereira told Burnley clash is a must-win

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 14 October that Wolves are not considering sacking Pereira as things stand and hope he will be the man to turn around their fortunes.

However, with two crucial Premier League fixtures against Burnley and Fulham coming up, failure to win either game will likely result in his dismissal.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Burnley game in particular is a must-win for the under-fire boss.

Those games against Burnley and Fulham are must-win for Wolves,” he told Football Insider.

“The problem is, Fulham and Burnley will be thinking the same thing about playing Wolves, so it’s not going to be simple for them by any means.

“Wolves have been really poor this season, and they’re starting off as most people’s favourites for relegation because of the inconsistency and instability there.

“Questions will be asked of the manager there, because no manager in the world can go eight games without winning and avoid any pressure.

“Of course the players deserve some criticism as well, but ultimately it falls on the manager.

“So they two games they’ve got coming are massive for their season.

“If they can pick up two wins, they’ll narrow that gap to their rivals, but if they lose then all of a sudden there will be a massive gap left between them.

“That often results in the manager being sacked, because something’s got to change, and if they lose against Burnley at home I think it’s inevitable.”

Wolves joined an exclusive club after their defeat to Leeds in September, becoming one of just six teams to start the season with five successive defeats.

Contract clause opens door for Wolves to sack Pereira

Despite having recently signed a new deal, Wolves are not concerned about paying Pereira compensation if they decide to pull the trigger, leaving the door open to his dismissal.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in September that Wolves could sack Pereira despite his three-year contract due to a hidden clause.

While the exact terms of his contract remain undisclosed, the act of having signed a new deal does not serve as a guarantee that his job will be safe.

Brown told Football Insider in October 2024 that then-Rangers boss Philippe Clement had agreed a termination fee as part of his contract at Ibrox.

The Rangers boss was dismissed in February despite having agreed a new contract the previous summer, and Pereira could be set to suffer the same fate at Wolves.
