Jim White’s two-word reaction to mega Pep Guardiola sack news at Man City as replacement named

Pep Guardiola could leave Man City in the coming hours following his side’s loss in the Manchester Derby, it has been claimed.

Man City were beaten 2-0 by Man United on Saturday, in a game that was never really close to anything other than a win for the home side.

Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu‘s goals capped off a battering of Guardiola‘s side, who were dealt a blow to their Premier League title hopes.

Arsenal drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground hours later, missing the opportunity to go nine points clear of Man City.

There have been suggestions that Guardiola could leave Man City at the end of the season, but a mid-season departure would be explosive.

Jim White reacts to Pep Guardiola news

In the aftermath of Saturday’s game, Richard Keys suggested that Guardiola could leave Man City this weekend.

I think it’s nailed on that he’s gone at the end of the season,” he said. “But, do not rule out him leaving this week. This week. If he goes this week, [Enzo] Maresca will be in charge of the match against Wolves.

“City will be apoplectic, and they’ll deny it, of course, but it’s on his mind, I’m telling you, to leave this week. He does this a lot, so you can’t read much into it, but this time you can.”

It is a bold claim, especially given the investment that decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium are currently backing Guardiola with.

Man City have already completed a big-money move for Antoine Semenyo this month, and Marc Guehi is expected to join him imminently.

The Citizens are not ready to give up on the Premier League title yet, and with Arsenal failing in consecutive weeks to capitalise on their opposition’s slip-ups, nor should Guardiola.

However, there has always remained an unpredictability about the Spaniard, who could well make any decision at any minute.

Reacting to Keys‘ claim on Saturday evening, Jim White simply posted the words, “well now…”

What Guardiola said when asked about Man City future

Speculation surrounding the future of Guardiola will be rife until the summer, whether his side recovers to win the Premier League or not.

The Spaniard’s time at Man City has far exceeded the time he spent at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich combined, and suspicions have arisen for a while that he could seek a new venture.

The Spain international team, a job in Italy, PSG, perhaps – the 55-year-old would essentially have the pick of teams in world football if he made himself available.

However, asked about his future this month, Guardiola said: “Oh my god. I have a contract, I said a thousand million times. I know you’re bored of me, 10 years here, I’m pretty sure of that.

“I will leave one day, I promise you, but I have a contract. I’m happy, I want to fight with my team, the hierarchy respect me.” “We will see,” he added.
