I’ve changed my mind about Tottenham amid ‘threatening’ Daniel Levy claim – pundit
Frank McAvennie has changed his mind about Tottenham and believes they will be a “threatening” force in 2022-23 thanks to the money Daniel Levy is spending in the transfer market.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker suggested Spurs will “definitely” be aiming for a top-four spot in the coming season.
The club confirmed the signing of Clement Lenglet, 27, on loan from Barcelona last Friday (8 July).
The French centre-back becomes Antonio Conte’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
He joins Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster at the London club – the four of whom have joined for a combined total of close to £80million.
McAvennie claims that Conte’s transfer business so far has forced him to reassess his opinion of Spurs’ top-four hopes
“Antonio Conte just goes in and looks at the players and says you’ll do for me, you won’t, you won’t and he’ll get them out,” he told Football Insider.
“That’s just the way he is.
“All the players that are coming in know him obviously. They’ll adhere to his rules and the way he wants to play.
“So it’s going to be interesting for Tottenham next year. I thought they were going back the way, but the new manager has come in. Daniel is spending money so they’re going to be threatening next year.
“Whether they could go for the title, I don’t know but they’ll definitely be going for top four.“

Lenglet made 26 appearances for the Spanish club last season, including four games in their Champions League campaign.
During that time he provided one assist.
