‘I’ve checked with my sources’ – Keith Wyness reveals what he’s heard about Everton agreeing Ben White deal
Arsenal defender Ben White is not a top target for Everton in the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who has been talking to his sources about White joining the Toffees.
Everton want to sign a new right-back in January, with Leeds defender Jayden Bogle also mentioned as a target.
White could be available to join Everton for £20million next summer, with Arsenal reluctant to let the 28-year-old leave in January.
Everton not pursuing Ben White deal
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – doesn’t expect a deal for White to progress.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks a younger right-back will be on Everton‘s radar in January.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I don’t think so. I’ve checked with some sources, and it’s not a name that’s on the top of the list by any means, although it has been mentioned.
“I think a few things go against him. I think they’d like to get a younger right-back in, if they are going to do something. Obviously, Moyes likes his flexibility to play along the back line to a degree, but still, I don’t think he’s the one. I think it is more agent talk rather than anything else.
“I don’t think he fits the bill for Everton right now. So I don’t expect that one to move forward.”

Everton in pursuit of striker
Everton have been told not to sign Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen, with David Moyes also targeting a striker in this window.
The 25-year-old could be available to purchase at £40million in January, but he has netted just one Premier League goal this season.
Instead, Nottingham Forest could make a move for Strand Larsen, with Everton continuing their search for a new number nine.
