Jack Clarke: Pundit issues Tottenham transfer verdict after Daniel Levy reveal via Athletic

Jack Clarke still has time to resurrect his Tottenham career, according to Paul Robinson.

The ex-White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 21-year-old has “not lived up to” his price tag since moving to north London.

Spurs signed Clarke in an £11.5million deal from Leeds United in July 2019.

However, the winger has struggled to settle and has mustered just four career appearances for the Lilywhites.

According to The Athletic (26 February), Daniel Levy was the primary driving force behind Clarke’s signing.

Mauricio Pochettino, manager at the time, is said to have had “zero interest”.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Clarke, Robinson said: “The Jack Clarke transfer is certainly one that has not worked out for Spurs.

“When you look at the amount of loans he has had, it’s not good. He’s even struggled when he has gone out on loan.

“It it a signing that has not worked. They paid a lot of money for a promising young talent. He needs to work hard to try and rediscover the form which got him the move to Tottenham.

“However that transfer came about and whoever signed him, it didn’t work.

“He is still young though. There is time on his hands to turn things around. He clearly possesses immense quality so if he stays fit and plays games, he can realise his potential.

“At the moment, he is certainly not living up to the transfer fee or expectation that he came in with.”

In other news, Paratici is working on the signing of a Southampton star, the fee will be ‘mega money’.
