Jack Grealish ‘likely to quit Man City for free’ after new twist – Stefan Borson
Manchester City star Jack Grealish is likely to leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the Etihad.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it would be “very difficult” for any club to afford his current wages as speculation around his future intensifies.
Grealish joined Man City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then-British record £100million fee.
The England international signed a six-year deal worth around £300,000 a week, meaning he is under contract at the Etihad until June 2027.
The 29-year-old has struggled to make an impact this season, having registered just two assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.
The Daily Mail reported on 30 December Tottenham and Newcastle United are monitoring Grealish’s situation.

But Borson suggested the most likely scenario is the winger will leave the Premier League champions on a free transfer once his current deal comes to an end.
He told Football Insider: “I think it’s going to be a very difficult deal to do until he’s out of contract at City.
“I doubt at the moment City would be minded to give him a new extension on that contract, so I think the most likely scenario with Grealish is just that he leaves at the end of his contract in 2027.
“The deal is just very hard to do.

“He’s another player that you just can’t see going to Saudi.
“We know that if Saudi aren’t interested in these players, there are very few teams that can afford them.”
