Jack Grealish sends message after Coventry transfer announcement
Man City winger Jack Grealish sent a message on social media in the wake of a completed January transfer to Coventry City.
Matt Grimes joined Frank Lampard’s team from Swansea City in a deal worth £4 million, including various add-ons [BBC Sport].
Despite signing a new contract with his club in August 2024, the former club captain made the mid-season switch to the Championship club.
Following his move, the 29-year-old took to Instagram, posting: “Absolutely delighted to be here. Thank you for all the welcome messages. Can’t wait to get started.”
Grealish reacted to the post by liking it and commenting, “Good luck mate” offering his support to Grimes as he begins his new chapter at Coventry.
Coventry pull off a coup with Matt Grimes and deal Swansea a major blow
Grimes has been a key player for Swansea since joining from Exeter almost a decade ago, making 333 appearances and scoring 16 goals.
This season, the midfielder has been ever-present for Luke Williams’ side, starting all 32 of the club’s games across all competitions.

For Lampard’s side, they have been active in the transfer market, eager to strengthen their midfield options. Football Insider revealed they are also pursuing Oxford United star Tyler Goodrham.
Grimes’ departure not only leaves a void on the pitch but also strips Swansea of a crucial leader, as he was a pivotal figure in the dressing room.
Williams’ side is already searching for a replacement, with Peterborough United midfielder Hector Kyprianou emerging as a target.
Coventry currently sit 12th in the Championship and are on a run of three consecutive league victories. They are four points ahead of Swansea, with the two sides set to face off on 1 February.
Football Insider Verdict
As for Grealish, he has endured a difficult season at City, with fans questioning his future amid the rise of Savinho at the club.
Grimes’ move to Coventry raised eyebrows, but if Grealish were to make a switch as the transfer window is coming to an end, it might not come as much of a shock.
