Jack Grealish should be in line for England call-up after stunning 100% pass-completion match

Jack Grealish hasn’t featured for England since October 2024 as his move to Everton seeks to reignite his international career.

Thomas Tuchel left Grealish out of the England squad once again for the November internationals as he continues to snub one of Gareth Southgate’s former national stars.

Grealish is among the best for fouls won in Europe, yet the German is still reluctant to recall him to the Three Lions squad.

With the World Cup fast approaching, the Everton loanee will be looking to continue his excellent form under David Moyes to change Tuchel‘s mind before it is too late.

Grealish on point for Everton vs Fulham as Thomas Tuchel monitors progress

Grealish was among Everton’s best performers against Fulham on 8 November as they won 2-0 in a dominant performance.

The 30-year-old was central to the Toffees’ creativity, delivering three key passes as he looked to produce golden opportunities for his teammates.

His pass map, courtesy of Football Insider’s data partnership with Opta, highlights his precision with the ball as he completed 100 per cent of his passes.

The Englishman’s passing ability could be an attribute being overlooked by Tuchel, given the Three Lions’ struggles at breaking down low blocks.

In particular, restricted World Cup qualifying victories against Albania, Latvia and Andorra in March and June saw England amass just six goals which is rather disappointing, given the poor quality of the opposition.

Tuchel has shown he will not give out-of-form players a free pass to England squad

One of the key differences between the Southgate and Tuchel tenures is their stances on favouritism of certain players.

Under the previous England boss, there was an obvious plan to retain a core group of Three Lions players, no matter how out-of-form they may have been.

For instance, fans were quick to criticise Southgate over his constant inclusion of Phil Foden in the starting XI, even when Cole Palmer and Eberechi Eze both displayed superior qualities in an England shirt.

Yet, the German seems to have taken an alternative cut-throat approach to his squad selections with every place up for grabs.

Foden has been recalled to the squad after being previously dropped, following solid form for Man City, whereas Morgan Gibbs-White, who has dipped of late for Nottingham Forest, was axed from the team.

This shows that Tuchel is perhaps wanting to see more from Grealish before handing him his place back in the Three Lions squad, potentially something that may occur just before the World Cup team selection.
