Jack Grealish: This is how ‘superstar’ can prove Man City chiefs wrong after source reveal – Mills
Danny Mills has claimed Jack Grealish will “come good” at Man City once he “learns and adapts” to Pep Guardiola’s style.
The former Citizens defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 26-year-old must curb his habit of playing for fouls in order to succeed at the Etihad Stadium.
This site revealed earlier this month (4 February) that Man City chiefs privately admit they made a blunder signing Grealish for a British-record fee – and believe the club should have landed Harry Kane instead.
The midfielder has struggled to adapt to Guardiola’s one and two-touch style – which is based on receiving the ball and moving it on quickly to a teammate.
Mills claimed the England ace is no longer the “superstar” after making the summer move to City from Aston Villa.
“It’s been an okay start to life at Man City for Jack Grealish,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“It hasn’t been as productive and as sensational as many people probably thought it would be.
“He was the superstar at Aston Villa – and he’s not at Man City, he’s surrounded by other superstars.
“The game is different. Man City want him to play differently to how he was playing with Villa.
“He’s got to adapt to that. Pep Guardiola won’t want him running with the ball and picking up fouls all the time – that’s not really what they do.
“He wants to control the football for 90 minutes of a game with quick passing and moving. Grealish has got the ability to do that, there’s no doubt about it.

“Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer to settle, and the pressures at City will be so much higher.
“He’s a top-quality player – he just has to learn and adapt to this new style, and I’m sure he’ll come good.”
