‘Jack Grealish tipped for Everton after Man City to Man United move falls through’

Jack Grealish has been backed for a move to Everton this summer after his switch from Man City to Man United seemingly fell through.

Since joining the Sky Blues in the summer of 2021 for a then-British record fee of £100million [BBC Sport], things haven’t always gone to plan for the England international.

The winger has enjoyed spells of brilliance, but they have often been interrupted by injuries or personal issues, leading to Grealish being “frozen out” by Pep Guardiola.

Having made just seven Premier League starts all season, it is clear that the 29-year-old does not feature prominently in the Spaniard’s long-term plans.

As a consequence, Grealish had been tipped to join cross-town rivals United, but their Europa League final loss to Tottenham has seemingly put an end to their chances of signing the winger.

But whilst the Red Devils are spiralling into a financial hellhole, Richard Keys and ex-Toffee Andy Gray have tipped the winger for a surprise move to a team that has recently found themselves on firmer financial footing.

Jack Grealish could join Everton this summer

Keys said live on beIN Sports: “It might be affected by the fact that Manchester United have lost the Europa League final, but I was told that, had United have won it, and therefore qualified to play in the Champions League, he [Grealish] would be signing for them this summer.

The presenter and his co-pundit, Gray, then discussed the need for Grealish to leave City this summer as he had “regressed as a footballer”, before the former Everton striker suggested his old club as an option.

Keys said: “Yeah, I think Everton would be [an option].

“Everton would love a 10.”

The presenter then asked Gray to choose between United and Everton as an option for Grealish, with the former Scotland striker putting it bluntly that the Toffees were simply a “better side” at the moment.

The former forward then called the move a “no-brainer” with the club set to move into the Hill Dickinson Stadium, whilst Old Trafford was “falling down”.

Jack Grealish to Everton makes a whole lot of sense

Football Insider Verdict

Grealish is leaving City this summer, there seems little doubt about it, but where he ends up is still a mystery.

The winger would have likely slotted neatly into Ruben Amorim‘s 3-4-2-1 system, but if Keys is correct, then that will remain nothing but a hypothetical scenario.

Aston Villa are routinely suggested as an option, and Unai Emery’s side have already taken two chances on players with plenty of baggage, Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, with both deals paying dividends.

But Everton remains the most intriguing option. Dan Friedkin renegotiated the financing deal on their new stadium, alleviating some of the financial stress caused by short-term loans taken out by former owner Farhad Moshiri.

With plenty of players leaving this summer, adding a difference maker to David Moyes’ side, a player that he can build around, would be a great move for both parties.
