Jack Grealish told what he must do to land England recall under Thomas Tuchel
Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad has raised a number of questions after his decision to leave multiple big-name stars at home.
Tuchel was slammed for leaving Adam Wharton out of his squad, while Jack Grealish’s displays have seen him tipped for a return for the first time under the new boss.
The Everton star in particular can feel hard-done-by to have been left at home, after returning to top form since his loan move from Man City in the summer.
In seven Premier League games so far, the attacking midfielder has picked up one goal and four assists and Grealish has been widely praised for his Everton performances.
However, Tuchel still needs to see more from him to be convinced of including him in his England squad, particularly in a highly contested position.

Jack Grealish told what he must do to win over Thomas Tuchel
Tuchel has been backed to recall Grealish to his squad before the World Cup in 2026, with two more breaks between now and the start of the tournament.
However, the boss wants to see the midfielder perform over a sustained period and prove his consistency, as he is still new to life at Everton.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level players, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Grealish must prove he is the best in his position in the country.
“Everybody knows what Jack can do,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s gone to Everton and found a platform under David Moyes where he’s being encouraged to show what he can do, and there’s a freedom to his game.
“But he has to show he can consistently do it at the highest level for a sustained period of time, and it’s still the early stages for him really.
“We’re talking about the England squad, it’s the best players in the country in their position, so he needs to show that’s what he is over more than a few games.

“Going from not being wanted at Man City to finally being able to play to his style at Everton, but he has to push on from here and show his best levels.
“I’m a big fan of Grealish, and I know what he can do at his best, I think Tuchel wants him to show that he can do it over 10, 15, 20 games so he knows he can be consistent.
“There were a few issues with the squad, and maybe Jack can feel harshly treated, but he’ll certainly be in the manager’s thinking.”
Decisions to include the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jordan Henderson have raised further questions, while Phil Foden was also among those left at home.
Questions asked as Tuchel snubs Jude Bellingham
Brown previously questioned Tuchel’s decision to leave out Bellingham, labelling the call “staggering” as the Real Madrid star was left at home.
Tuchel explained that Bellingham was left out of the squad as he had yet to reach full fitness after his recent spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.
However, there are believed to be some concerns about the Real Madrid star’s attitude both on the pitch and behind the scenes which must be resolved.

Heading into the 2026 World Cup, the only players who seem nailed-on under Tuchel are Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Marc Guehi, Reece James, and Jordan Pickford.
Dan Burn remains a regular under Tuchel, and his height is seen as a valuable asset with a renewed focus on set-pieces as previously seen under Gareth Southgate.
