‘Jack Rudoni to follow Frank Lampard out of Coventry amid Newcastle interest’
Jack Rudoni’s future as a Coventry City player could all depend on where Frank Lampard ends up ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Lampard has refused to rule out a Coventry exit before failing to reach the Championship play-off finals, having been crushed by a buzzer-beating header from Dan Ballard at the Stadium of Light.
Rudoni was unable to stamp his usual mark on the second leg, having scored in the first leg at home, officially ending the season on 10 goals and 13 assists across 50 appearances.
With the Sky Blues condemned to yet another season in the second tier of English football, some supporters expect Lampard to depart Coventry after just six months in charge.
Jack Rudoni to keep an eye on Frank Lampard situation
Given the 46-year-old’s previous experiences with Chelsea and Everton, and even with Derby County in the Championship, the expectation might be for him to be given another shot in the Premier League.
He won over 50 per cent of his Coventry games in charge during the 2024/25 campaign, pushing his team up to fifth in the Championship table, but securing promotion was just too big a challenge.
Multiple players thrived under Lampard’s leadership, but one star who stood out from the rest was Rudoni, who finished as the team’s second-highest goalscorer and bagged the most assists.
The 23-year-old’s performances caught the eye of teams up and down the country, with the Daily Mail reporting (22 May) that Newcastle United have scouted Rudoni during the season.
But with comparisons being made to his current manager, who wrote his name into the Premier League history books as a goalscoring midfielder with Chelsea, it is easy to see what kind of impact Lampard has had on him.

Coventry City desperate for key figures to stay for 2025/26 campaign
Rudoni only managed a single campaign with double-digits in goal contributions during spells with Wimbledon and Huddersfield Town, but he is not one of the most important figures for the Sky Blues.
That is exactly why the 23-year-old would be ready to follow his manager anywhere this summer, and given the incredible comparisons this season, clubs would welcome him in with open arms.
While a move to St James’ Park would be a huge move for the attacking midfielder, Eddie Howe‘s success with the Magpies suggests he will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
Newcastle could be looking for a Bruno Guimaraes replacement this summer, but with a lack of experience above Championship-level, Rudoni would likely have to settle for a much smaller role at a bigger club.
And if he is due to replace the exit-linked Sean Longstaff at St. James’ Park for domestic quota purposes he might be much better off sticking with his current boss, wherever that proves to be.
Remaining at the Coventry Building Society Arena for another season makes far more sense for the talented midfielder, especially if the Sky Blues can keep hold of Lampard for one more campaign.
