Jacob Murphy and Bruno Guimaraes react to Sandro Tonali amid Newcastle exit rumours

Newcastle United stars flooded onto social media to react to Sandro Tonali’s latest update as speculation grows over the midfielder’s future.

The 25-year-old Italian netted his fourth goal of the Premier League campaign as the Magpies claimed all three points against Chelsea on Sunday, 11 May, scoring after just two minutes.

Enzo Maresca’s side went down to 10 men after just 35 minutes, with Keith Hackett slamming John Brooks for requiring VAR intervention for Nicolas Jackson’s sending-off against Sven Botman.

While Eddie Howe was forced to wait until the closing stages of the game, his side finally took advantage of the one-man advantage through Bruno Guimaraes, who looped home a second in the 90th minute.

Taking to Instagram (12 May), Tonali shared a video of his display against Chelsea, capturing his goal celebrations at St James’ Park, captioned simply with a red heart.

Joelinton, Guimaraes, Jacob Murphy, and Tino Livramento all liked the post, joined by club legend Alan Shearer as the Magpies look ahead to a tough clash against Arsenal on Sunday, 18 May.

Football Insider verdict

Despite only being with the Magpies since the summer of 2023 and missing much of last season due to a ban, Football Insider understands that Newcastle could reluctantly accept offers for Tonali.

Wide claims that the talented midfielder has been unhappy at the club have increased speculation over an exit, with Juventus interested in securing his signature once the summer transfer window opens, and this might not be the only departure.

Alexander Isak has long been linked with a Newcastle exit, and so too has Guimaraes, with both stars experiencing a sensational campaign with the 2024/25 Carabao Cup champions.

A top-two finish is on the cards for the Magpies this season, and if Howe can prove that his side can challenge for the Premier League title while competing in Europe, it could help keep big-name stars.

With an incredibly key clash coming up against Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal, a second-place finish remains in the Magpies’ hands, with a final-day game against Everton also no walk in the park.
