Jacob Ramsey could explode at Aston Villa after what pundit has spotted

Jacob Ramsey could explode at Aston Villa after a “magnificent” first game under Unai Emery.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 21-year-old’s importance to Villa.

Ramsey grabbed a goal and an assist as Emery registered a 3-1 win over Man United in his first game in charge on Sunday (6 November).

Ramsey, who registered six goals and one assist in his breakthrough season in 2021-22, has played in each of Aston Villa’s 14 Premier League games this term.

As a player who came through the youth ranks at Villa, McManus claims Ramsey can grow to become a key player under Emery.

“He came through the youth ranks, born in Birmingham and the supporters love that,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“They want to see one of their own coming through and doing well. He was unlucky with the deflection for Man United’s goal but there was nothing he could do about that for me.

“He was very unlucky but it was a magnificent finish for the goal, he took it so well, superb. Right into that top corner.

“He’s only 21-year-old so he is a huge, huge prospect for Aston Villa and for England as well. Emery will be impressed and what a way to announce yourself to your new manager.

“The day couldn’t have gone much better for him.”
