Jake O’Brien appalling, James Garner incredible – Everton ratings v Ipswich

David Moyes will be deeply disappointed after his Everton side were held to a 2-2 draw by relegated Ipswich Town at Goodison Park.

The Toffees raced into a two-goal lead as Beto and Dwight McNeil scored stunning strikes in the first half, though celebrations were quietened as the Tractor Boys halved the deficit before the half-time break.

Julio Enciso rocketed home a beautiful effort for Ipswich from the best part of 35 yards, with George Hirst eventually drawing his side level 10 minutes from time on Saturday, 3 May.

The game was the penultimate Premier League clash to be held at Goodison Park, ahead of the Toffees’ goodbye against Southampton on 18 May.

Jake O’Brien slacks as Everton concede twice at Goodison Park

Jordan Pickford – 5

Will feel hugely disappointed to have conceded twice against a team already relegated from the Premier League. Had some sloppy passes and will have expected more from himself.

Nathan Patterson (Off for Patterson 82′) – 7

A positive display from the rarely-seen full-back. Supplied the assist for McNeil’s rocket and dealt well with the pressure down his side. Could thrive under Moyes.

Jake O’Brien – 2

Appalling defending. Struggled to deal with the pace of Liam Delap. Made a poor attempt at putting Hirst off before the Ipswich forward’s goal. James Tarkowski was missed by Everton.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 7

The 22-year-old rarely put a foot wrong while in possession, but with two goals conceded, it left a lot to be desired from the Toffees at Goodison Park.

Vitaliy Mykolenko – 5

Usually so established on the left of defence, but with a yellow card picked up in the final 10 minutes, it was not his finest display in Everton colours.

Dwight McNeil stunner gets party started in the first half

Idrissa Gueye (Off for Iroegbunam 90′) – 6

It is clear why Everton want to tie Gueye down to a new deal, continuing to have such a key presence in the middle of the park at the age of 35. Another decent display.

James Garner – 9 – Player of the Match

Absolutely everywhere. While he played no role in either of the goals, the defensive midfielder carried the ball well, won all of his duels, and even created a chance in the final third. Incredible player.

Dwight McNeil (Off for Harrison 78′) – 7

Starting his first game since December, McNeil returned to the starting lineup with a bang, firing an effort past a helpless Alex Palmer from long range.

Beto’s goal starts four-goal thriller against Ipswich Town

Iliman Ndiaye – 4

An extremely quiet performance from the winger, who was deployed as an attacking midfielder against Ipswich. Not a single chance created. Shame.

Carlos Alcaraz (Off for Chermiti 90′) – 7

If Everton are to sign Alcaraz permanently this summer, there is no doubt that he will become a favourite figure on Merseyside following his short loan spell.

Beto (Off for Calvert-Lewin 77′) – 8

Continued his revival at Goodison Park with another brilliant goal. Even attempted an overhead kick during the clash, proving just how high his confidence is.

Substitutes

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (On for Beto 77′) – 6

Won free-kicks in decent areas and caused issues with his height and strength.

Jack Harrison (On for McNeil 78′) – 5

Made a couple of darting runs in the final few minutes, but failed to have much impact.

Ashley Young (On for Patterson 82′) – N/A

Youssef Chermiti (On for Alcaraz 90′) – N/A

Tim Iroegbunam (On for Gueye 90′) – N/A
