James Forrest cited as Celtic set to green light multiple exits – expert
Celtic fans can expect multiple exits when the January transfer window opens.
That’s according to former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Celts’ transfer business.
As quoted by the STV (20 December), Ange Postecoglou said they haven’t had an offer for “any player” as yet.
The Aussie boss said that if players have an issue they will speak to him first.
In the summer (2 August), the Sun reported that James McCarthy was believed to be weighing up his options around a potential summer move.
Ultimately McCarthy remained at Parkhead but his future is still up in the air moving into the next transfer market.
McAvennie expects several players to quit in the new year.
“I do not know who they are going to get rid of,” he told Football Insider. “There is no way James Forrest will go out. He will not go anywhere.
“I would want to play every week. I know the boys are great back-ups, they come in and do a great job, but I would want to play every week.
“I think if somebody comes in for McCarthy he will go, but I do not think he is fit enough. I look at the pace of Ange’s team and I do not know if he is quick enough for that.

“He has got a few players to go in January. Where is the ambition? Why do players want to sit on the bench and get a medal for something they never took part in?
“I think there will be players leaving in January and the manager will be sorting that out.“
