James Maddison and Hueng-Min Son react as Pedro Porro hits back at Tottenham critics

Pedro Porro has taken to social media to respond to some of the criticism Tottenham have received, with teammates Heung Min-Son and James Maddison reacting.

Porro was part of the Spurs side that ended a 17-year wait for a major trophy by winning the Europa League final in Bilbao.

Brennan Johnson was the hero for Ange Postecoglou’s side, scoring the 42nd-minute winner as Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0.

Spurs could finish the season as low as 17th in the Premier League, but the North London side will be playing Champions League football next season, thanks to their Europa League success.

Porro responds to criticism after Man United beaten

Tottenham have faced heavy criticism about their Premier League form, after winning just one of their last 11 league games.

Some have even suggested that the Europa League winners should not win automatic Champions League qualification.

However, Porro took to Instagram to hit back at the comments, after Spurs’ European success and open-top bus parade.

The full-back shared some photos of the celebrations, with the caption: “This might even be better than top 4, right?”, including a yawning emoji at the end of the message.

Both Hueng-min Son and James Maddison clearly agreed with the Spaniard, with the pair liking the post.

Before the final, Postecoglou was under serious pressure at Tottenham, with the fans starting to lose patience with the poor performances.

There was even talk that the Australian would be sacked regardless of what happened against Man United, due to Spurs‘ horrific league form.

However, the mood has dramatically lifted after Wednesday (21 May) night’s success, and it looks as if Postecoglou will remain in charge next season.

Of course, it has been a dismal domestic campaign for the North London side, but their recent run can almost be disregarded now, as they had full focus on the Europa League.

Despite this, the former Celtic boss remains in a precarious position and will need to ensure that his side begin next season positively in order to keep his job.
