James Maddison bust-up: Tottenham star hits out at fan in new message

Tottenham star James Maddison has fired back at a fan after being criticised for attending a darts match amidst their poor run of form.

The 28-year-old made the trip to Alexandra Palace after their 2-2 draw with Wolves on Sunday (December 29) to watch the World Darts Championship action alongside teammate Brennan Johnson.

Maddison came off the bench for the last 26 minutes in the game against Wolves, replacing goalscorer Johnson with the score at 2-1.

Wolves opened the scoring after seven minutes through Hee-Chan Hwang before Rodrigo Bentancur equalised just five minutes later.

Johnson’s goal put the home side ahead going into half-time and they looked well on their way to a much-needed three points before Jorgen Strand Larsen crashed the party and leveled the score in the 87th minute.

Spurs’ draw with Wolves sees them fall into the bottom half of the Premier League table, sitting in 11th with seven wins, three draws, and nine defeats from their 19 games.

James Maddison defiant as Tottenham hit a rough patch of form going into 2025

Maddison has been a standout for Spurs despite playing a full 90 minutes just once, starting 18 of his 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals, and providing five assists in his 1525 minutes of action.

The attacking midfielder took one fan’s criticism on his most recent Instagram post to heart, responding to the now-deleted comment with: “Shut up you wally.”

Ange Postecoglu’s side will host Eddie Howe’s in-form Newcastle on Saturday (January 4) in their first game of 2025 in a must-win game for the Australian coach.

Spurs will then face Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final as they seek to win their first piece of silverware in 16 years.
