James Maddison, Noni Madueke react to exit-linked Tottenham ace Destiny Udogie

Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and Tottenham’s James Maddison have reacted to a message from Destiny Udogie on social media.

Having suffered his fair share of injuries over the last few seasons, Udogie was forced off in the 79th minute off the 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday (10 April) in the Europa League.

Liverpool target Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring for the German side in the sixth minute, as the Frenchman slotted a beautiful effort past Guglielmo Vicario from outside the box.

Spurs responded through Pedro Porro in the 26th minute, as the Spaniard slotted a tidy finish past Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua from a neat piece of play by Maddison.

In spite of being in control for large portions of the tie, Tottenham were forced to settle for a draw in North London, heaping pressure on Ange Postecoglou ahead of the return leg in Germany.

Destiny Udogie faces uncertain Tottenham future

With Tottenham interested in signing Tyrick Mitchell [talkSPORT] from Crystal Palace, Udogie faces an uncertain future, having failed to impress for the North London side this season.

In a season interrupted by fitness issues, being forced off with an injury against Frankfurt is another setback the Italian defender will have to overcome.

Following the draw, Udogie posted a series of photos from the match on Instagram, captioned: “Blessed”.

The post was liked by Spurs teammate Maddison and Chelsea‘s Madueke, showing their support for the fullback.

Tottenham draw heaps pressure on Ange Postecoglou with Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva linked

Football Insider Verdict

Should Spurs fail to win the Europa League, chairman Daniel Levy will undoubtedly find it difficult to look past Postecoglou’s failings in his second season in charge.

Tottenham have regressed hugely from the Australian’s first season, in which the North London side finished fifth.

By comparison, Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League, having lost 16 games already this season and will not feature in Europe next year unless they win the Europa League.

Marco Silva has been linked with a move to Tottenham, and the Portuguese manager would come with the experience of conducting low-budget rebuilds in the Premier League, something that would appeal to Levy.

Andoni Iraola has also been linked with the Tottenham job, and whilst the Spaniard’s Bournemouth side have fallen off in recent weeks, the former Rayo Vallecano boss remains an incredibly hot commodity.
