James Maddison posts Van de Ven and Kudus update after Tottenham bust-up

James Maddison has shared an update on social media after Micky van de Ven and Mohammed Kudus met at Tottenham.

The duo were famously involved in a clash when Spurs welcomed West Ham to North London in October last season as Ange Postecoglou‘s side were 4-1 victors in the Premier League.

Kudus lashed out at the Spurs centre-back before hitting out at Richarlison and Pape Sarr, and after initially being shown a yellow card, Andrew Madley sent the winger off for an act of violence.

Clearly frustrated with the Hammers’ heavy defeat, the 24-year-old was handed a five-game ban, and after links emerged with Thomas Frank‘s side, many suggested it could be an awkward dressing room.

Maddison has now shared an update from the training ground as the pair begin to work together as teammates rather than rivals, posting a funny video to his social media.

Taking to Instagram (11 July), Maddison wrote: “Micky, you alright this morning, mate?” sharing a video of Van de Ven sitting down the table from Kudus, gaining likes from multiple Spurs stars.

Former teammate Emerson Royal replied with laughing emojis and: “I help you, Micky van de Ven,” with Djed Spence and the defender himself also commenting with laughing emojis.

Thomas Frank continues to build Tottenham superteam

Football Insider verdict

Frank overachieved during his final season as Brentford boss, taking the Bees to 10th in the Premier League season, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa thriving in the final third.

He has attempted to bring both forwards to North London with him, and right now, a deal for the latter seems far more likely as Football Insider understands that Mbeumo will be a Man United player.

As well as signing Kudus, Tottenham looked to have triggered a £60million release clause in Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract, but a deal has now fallen through with the Reds considering legal action.

Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Tottenham could spend another £200million in a transfer blitz, but that is likely to go hand-in-hand with some exits over the coming weeks.

Son Heung-min, Cristian Romero, Yves Bissouma, and Richarlison have all been heavily linked with exits in recent weeks, and with the number of expected signings, multiple departures could emerge.

Frank has huge boots to fill after Postecoglou lifted the Europa League title, but after impressing during his time at the Gtech Community Stadium, he should have no trouble as Daniel Levy continues to support him.
