James Maddison responds after Kevin Danso issues challenge at Tottenham

James Maddison has accepted Kevin Danso’s offer to compete against each other off the pitch.

After a woeful 17th place 2024-25 league campaign, Tottenham will be looking to perform far better domestically next year.

Troubles in the Premier League were reconciled by the Lilywhites victory in the Europa League in Bilbao, ending their 17-year wait for a trophy.

It wasn’t enough for Australian Ange Postecoglou to keep his job with Daniel Levy turning towards former Brentford boss Thomas Frank to take Spurs to the next level.

The Dane has already received significant investment into a talented Spurs side, including signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

Frank will be wanting his Tottenham side to continue their winning run in pre-season after beating Reading 2-0, facing a double whammy against Wycombe and Luton on the 26 July.

Maddison faces darts challenge from Danso

The former Leicester midfielder is known to be an avid fan of darts, frequently part of his goal celebrations as he netted 12 times last year.

But, the Englishman faces a challenge from teammate Danso who showed his darts expertise in an Instagram (24 July) post.

The Austrian threw some decent darts, vastly surpassing his fellow Spurs players Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and Djed Spence.

In the video, the centre-back challenged ‘Madders’ to a game, to which the attacking-midfielder responded with the comment: “When your ready big fella.”

Midfield injuries to cause concern for Thomas Frank

The major conundrum facing new manager Frank is who will start in the centre of midfield next season with both Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski expected to miss the start of the new campaign.

Spurs’ friendly against Reading didn’t provide a clear answer to who would get the nod in the number 10 position.

Alfie Devine started behind Solanke up top but was replaced by Kudus at the break, suggesting the Ghanian may get a nod as the central-attacking midfielder.

The former Hammer often played as a winger or striker under Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter last season, offering versatility for the new Spurs head coach.

Given the uncertainty of who will play off the striker, it is no surprise that the Lilywhites have been pursuing Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
