James Maddison shares what he told privately told player who’s now left Tottenham
Coventry City have signed Tottenham winger Yang Min-hyeok on a loan deal until the end of the Championship season.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was thought to be among Coventry’s targets for this month, but the Crystal Palace starlet now looks set to sign for Swansea City instead.
Yang spent the first half of the season with Portsmouth and scored three goals for John Mousinho’s side, but he has now been recalled and loaned out to James Maddison‘s former club, Coventry.
Maddison is currently recovering from an injury to his knee that he suffered in pre-season, with the issue expected to keep him out until the final weeks of the season.
Dejan Kulusevski is also recovering from injury, with the pair pictured sharing their return to the gym in a September social media post.

James Maddison reveals what he told Yang Min-hyeok
Yang arrived at Tottenham from Gangwon FC at the start of 2025 and has since been loaned out in an attempt to see him adapt to the English game.
The winger went to QPR for the second half of last season, where he found the net twice before returning.
The 18-year-old’s spell at Portsmouth was slightly more promising, with one three-game spell in October prompting huge excitement.
In consecutive games against Watford, Middlesbrough and Leicester City, Yang provided key goal contributions, earning his side five points from three difficult games.
But the numbers dried up after that, until the winger found a massive 98th-minute winner against Charlton Athletic at the end of December.
Mousinho opted against even bringing him off the bench in Portsmouth’s next game, however, with the winger now having moved on.
And according to Maddison, he’ll be in safe hands. “Let’s go Yang,” the midfielder wrote on Instagram following confirmation of the South Korea international’s move to Coventry.

“What a city and what a club! Told you that in pre-season, [wink emoji], good luck mate.”
What Yang said after joining Coventry City
Yang had enjoyed strong moments at Portsmouth, but decision-makers at Tottenham have jumped at the chance to send the 19-year-old to a flowing team.
Coventry, despite experiencing a wobble in recent weeks, still lead the Championship by six points and have vastly outscored any other team in the league.
After joining, Yang told Coventry’s website: “When I played against Coventry, I really felt the positive atmosphere within the team, and that made me even more excited about becoming part of this club.
“The head coach explained very clearly how he plans to use me and how I could fit into the team, which gave me a lot of confidence that this is the right place for me.”
Frank Lampard will have the task of getting the best out of Yang in the coming months as he looks to push his side over the line.
