James McAtee backed to complete Man City move after bid submitted – pundit
James McAtee should go on loan to another Premier League side if he leaves Man City this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said McAtee should avoid another stint in the Championship.
The 20-year-old spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Sheffield United and helped them secure promotion back to the top flight.
According to The Sun (12 July), Pep Guardiola’s side have turned down offers in the region of £30m for the midfielder.
McAtee still has three years remaining on his contract with the Etihad and has featured for Pep Guardiola’s first team six times so far.
When asked if McAtee could go out on loan again next season after City rejected permanent offers, Hutton told Football Insider: “It is definitely an option but the level has to be right.
“It has to be a level where he is going to get better.
“You do not really want to see him in the Championship but can he go to a Premier League team? Can he go to a foreign team and play at a high level that makes him move on quicker, that is the next thing for him in his progression.
“I am sure they [City] have got amazing staff that will pick out the right club if he was to go on loan.“

McAtee made 43 appearances for Sheffield United across all competitions last term.
He netted nine goals and offered up four assists in those outings.
