James McAtee sends Man City message amid Guardiola transfer reveal

James McAtee has sent Man City fans a message after their Premier League victory against Newcastle United on Saturday (15 February).

Pep Guardiola’s side comfortably defeated the Magpies 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium after an Omar Marmoush hat-trick and a goal from McAtee himself.

The result helped strengthen City’s position in the top four against one of their rivals for Champions League football.

The defending Premier League champions remain in fourth place, but they did close the gap on Nottingham Forest to just three points.

However, City do have Bournemouth breathing down their necks as the Cherries sit just one point behind them.

City will be back in action on Wednesday (19 February) in the Champions League against Real Madrid before facing Liverpool on Sunday (23 February).

James McAtee has impressive Man City statistics this season

McAtee came off the bench toward the end of the game against the Magpies, getting 14 minutes of game time.

The 22-year-old made the most of his opportunity by finding the back of the net to score his sixth goal of the season in all competitions, and he celebrated that on Instagram.

The attacking midfielder said, “What a win @mancity.”

James McAtee’s Man City future remains unclear

McAtee’s long-term future at City remains uncertain, despite his impressive cameo against Newcastle.

The youngster has only played eight times in the Premier League this season, with all of those appearances being short cameos off the bench.

Former club financial advisor Stefan Borson revealed to Football Insider that Man City are looking for £30-35million to consider selling McAtee.

Football Insider confirmed that Guardiola will not stand in McAtee’s way should he wish to leave City.
