James Tavernier bang out of order as Danny Rohl bust-up crushes hope of emotional Rangers send-off
James Tavernier should be ashamed of his actions after news of a bust-up with Danny Rohl is set to see him miss out on his final Rangers home game.
The Gers skipper is into his final weeks with the Glasgow giants after recently confirming his decision to walk away from the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.
He had been expecting an emotional Ibrox send-off in Wednesday night’s clash with Hibernian, but his time at Rangers is now set to end in hugely controversial fashion.
According to The Scottish Sun, the 34-year-old’s fall-out with Rohl stemmed from a discussion in which the boss informed him that he would not be in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s clash.
Rangers’ home game against Hibernian is immaterial in terms of their final position in the Premiership, but Tavernier is now not expected to attend what would have been his final outing at Ibrox.

Tavernier has faced criticism from fans and pundits at times this season, but he still departs as a genuine Rangers legend.
However, his latest actions as part of his disagreement with Rohl do not appear to reflect those of someone who has held a crucial leadership position as captain for several years.

The veteran is understood to have “stormed out” of Ibrox after briefly speaking to his teammates after the flare-up with Rohl, in what is seemingly a childish response for a player of his experience.
Tavernier had expected to walk out at Ibrox from the off in front of his family for one final time, but Rohl clearly felt that he was not part of his strongest XI, which would give his team the best chance to win the game.
The skipper’s word has carried serious weight in Govan for many years now, but it was stupid of him not to accept that the manager’s decision is final, and he clearly didn’t react to that in a professional manner.
Even if he hadn’t started the game, the right-back would surely have been introduced from the bench to a standing ovation from all inside the ground, which arguably would have provided him with just as special a moment as leading the team out.
Instead of accepting Rohl’s call and awaiting his chance to take the limelight midway through the evening, Tavernier appears to have been bang out of order with his reaction, and that has ultimately cost him the chance to say goodbye to the fans.
Tavernier may have just turned Rangers fans against Danny Rohl for good
Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider earlier this week that Rangers must avoid a “knee-jerk” reaction on Rohl’s future in the aftermath of their chastening Old Firm derby defeat last weekend.
Frustration towards the German has built up among supporters now that the Gers’ title hopes have been crushed for another season, but Wyness feels that the board must remain fully behind their man.
However, Tavernier’s actions will surely now have added fuel to the fire in terms of the calls for Rohl to lose his job in the coming weeks.
Regardless of whether his actions were the correct ones, the Rangers faithful have the utmost respect for Tavernier and what he stands for, and with that in mind, his decision to walk out may turn people against Rohl even more.
Ibrox can be a difficult place to rebuild relationships once they have been soured, and Rohl may become the latest man to find that out in the near future.
