James Tavernier reacts to Vaclav Cerny announcement at Rangers

James Tavernier has reacted to Rangers’ latest announcement concerning Vaclav Cerny as fans patiently wait to hear about the loanee’s future.

The Czech international has been an incredible addition to the Gers’ squad this season, boasting 18 goals and nine assists in 51 appearances across all competitions since arriving on loan from Wolfsburg.

Supporters have been so impressed with him that 49ers Enterprises have been tasked with signing Cerny permanently once the summer transfer window opens, and Football Insider understands that the new owners will jump at the chance.

The 27-year-old has been a rare positive spark for the Light Blues this season, having finished miles behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table and failed to reach the further rounds of domestic cups.

Vaclav Cerny awarded for incredible season at Rangers

Taking to Instagram (16 May), the official club account wrote: “Vaclav Cerny has made it into the EA Sports FC Team of the Season,” referencing the world-famous video game.

Tavernier, who Rangers fans are keen to see depart Ibrox this summer, liked the post, showing for his in-form teammate, and so too did Danilo.

Football Insider verdict

The possible permanent signing of Cerny will not be the only headache facing 49ers ahead of the 2025/26 charge, once they are in charge, with plenty of change expected from the fans.

While a shift in the boardroom is clearly needed after several seasons of falling behind their Old Firm rivals, changes on the pitch will be the biggest concern for the supporters before next season.

Rangers could end up losing Nico Raskin following an incredible season in midfield, with Football Insider understanding that newly promoted Leeds United are in the running for his signature.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Rafael Fernandes are both on loan at Ibrox, and while neither of their spells have worked out very well, fans are hoping for the former to return in some capacity.

If the Gers are to afford more players, and the expected new owners are to make a positive splash in Scotland, Hamza Igamane could seal a move to the Premier League, which would free up a lot of funds.
