‘Jamie Carragher doesn’t like Mo Salah’ after Deadline Day live Liverpool gaffe
Jamie Carragher has been accused of being anti-Liverpool star Mohamed Salah after the pundit’s latest comment.
Salah is of course one of a key trio of players who are out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season, with speculation continuing over the futures of the attacker, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Carragher’s own comments on that situation have already led to him exchanging digs with Salah at times this season.
Now the former Liverpool defender may have wound up the Egyptian again after what happened on the final day of the transfer window.
Joining presenter David Jones on Sky Sports News to take a part in Deadline Day Live quiz (3 February, 6:21pm), the pair were asked who the current top scorer in the Premier League is.
While Carragher immediately claimed it to be Erling Haaland, Jones correctly answered Salah, with the pair then bursting out laughing after the former realised his error.
That then led to Jones exclaiming: “He doesn’t like him does he! He doesn’t like Mo Salah! What is it?!”
Carragher unlikely to hear end of Salah comment amid Liverpool speculation
Football Insider Verdict
In fairness to Carragher, Haaland’s remarkable goalscoring exploits mean there is an natural instinct to name the Man City star whenever asked about a top scorer anywhere.
Even so, given his connection to the club, the former Liverpool man will surely be wishing he hadn’t said that.
Carragher has already come under fire from a number of his old club’s supporters for his comments about the future of Salah this season.
Naming a rival in Haaland over Salah here is only going to give them more ammunition to aim in his direction while this uncertainty remains.

Most important for Liverpool right now though, is maintaining their lead at the top of the Premier League table through to the end of the campaign.
If Salah can keep himself ahead of the likes of Haaland at the top of the scoring charts, Arne Slot’s side will have an excellent chance of succeeding with that.
