Jamie Carragher instantly mocks Man United after Tottenham defeat
Jamie Carragher wasted no time in sticking the boot into Man United after their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
It has been a dismal season for Ruben Amorim‘s side domestically, which has seen them languishing in the bottom quarter of the Premier League table.
They did though have the chance to salvage their campaign by winning silverware and qualifying for the Champions League with a win over Spurs in the final in Bilbao on Wednesday (21 May).
Ultimately though, Man United would fail in their efforts to do that after losing 1-0 to Tottenham in that final, courtesy of a 42nd minute goal from Brennan Johnson.

Jamie Carragher relishes more Red Devils misery
Although Man United pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half, they were unable to find a breakthrough, allowing Spurs to end their long wait for a major trophy.
As a result, there will be no high point to end an otherwise miserable season for the Red Devils, a fact Carragher certainly seemed to enjoy.
Taking to X immediately as the full time whistle went, the former Liverpool man aimed a brutal dig at the Old Trafford club, by simply posting: “Lads, it’s Man United!”.
That of course, is a nod to Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous line, “Lads, it’s Tottenham“, said when his own Red Devils side had found themselves 3-0 down to Spurs at half time, only to go on to win 5-3.
Man United facing difficult summer
Football Insider Verdict
There are going to be some incredibly difficult questions to ask for those at Old Trafford as a consequence of this defeat.
It has long since been clear that there is a desperate need to strengthen their squad this summer to avoid a repeat of such a disastrous campaign.
Indeed, Man United had been working on moves for the likes of Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap as they looked to make a strong start in the market.
But with this defeat costing them not only a trophy but also a place in the Champions League next season, it is now going to be harder for them to attract potential transfer targets.

It has already been revealed that Man United were planning to back Amorim regardless of the result of the final.
But after yet another setback such as this, the Portuguese manager is already going to be entering the 2025/26 campaign under a huge amount of pressure to turn things around.
