Jamie Gittens transfer plans emerge as ‘Arsenal join Liverpool in close race’
Jamie Gittens sees himself playing in the Premier League eventually where Arsenal have joined the race to sign him, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported.
Recent reports suggest that Chelsea are willing to pay the German side’s £80million-plus asking price for the signing of the 20-year-old, amid similar interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.
This latest update has now stated that the Gunners, along with those other three teams, are all “closely” monitoring the England Under 21 international, but he is currently looking to move this summer.
Gittens scored a “stunning” goal against Bayern Munich in the 1-1 Der Klassiker draw on Saturday (30 November).
There are still three-and-a-half years remaining on the winger’s contract with his current club, securing his future in Germany until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham must still test Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens resolve
Football Insider Opinion
Even with the stance that the winger appears to have taken over his own future, these interested clubs should surely still be looking to prise him away from Dortmund in the near future.
The 20-year-old is producing some remarkable form at the very top level at this moment in time, showing just how big an asset he can be as he continues to improve and gain experience.
It therefore makes sense for any of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham to try and put pressure on the German giants to sell before the start of next season.

That way, they reduce the risk of missing out on an excellent signing to one of those other rivals further down the line.
Indeed, there is also a chance the likes of these clubs could be competing for other targets as well, so they will need to keep their options open when it comes to recruitment.
With that in mind, these sides should still be looking to give Gittens a decision to make over his future by the summer at the very least.
