Jamie Vardy reacts as Ruud van Nistelrooy delivers Leicester City exit message

Jamie Vardy has reacted to a message shared by Ruud van Nistelrooy after the Dutchman left Leicester City via mutual consent.

Van Nistelrooy took charge of 27 Foxes games, but led them to just five wins in that time, and consequently led the East Midlands club to relegation back to the Championship.

Meanwhile, Vardy signed off from a stellar Leicester career by notching his 200th goal in his 500th appearance for the King Power Stadium club.

But after the Foxes suffered relegation, the 38-year-old is searching for a new club, while Vardy has been linked with Rangers.

Vardy notched nine goals and four assists in the Premier League last term, proving that he can still perform in the top flight, even for a struggling side.

Meanwhile, after his Leicester exit was confirmed, former boss Van Nistelrooy took to Instagram on Saturday, 28 June, as he wrote: “I would like to personally thank the LCFC players, coaches, academy, and all the staff I have worked with for their professionalism and dedication during my time at the club and to thank the fans for their support, and take this opportunity to wish the club well for the future.”

The 48-year-old’s emotional message received a like from Vardy.

Vardy could be a valuable addition for a newly promoted Premier League side

The former England international has made his intention to continue operating in the Premier League clear after leaving Leicester following their relegation.

Vardy no longer has what it takes to help a top-flight title challenger or a European football chaser in their lofty ambitions to win silverware.

However, the veteran boasts bags of Premier League experience and goal-scoring prowess, and could therefore help them avoid suffering the same relegation fate as Leicester.

Leeds United will still be intent on acquiring another striker after signing Lukas Nmecha, who scored just three goals in the Bundesliga for former club Wolfsburg last summer.

Meanwhile, Sunderland should be keen to add tried and tested Premier League quality to their ranks after winning the Championship playoff final with a notably young squad.

Vardy would also be a solid addition for Burnley, after the Clarets won promotion back to the top flight, predominantly due to their defensive ability as opposed to their attacking exploits.
