Japhet Tanganga could exit Tottenham for two reasons after journalist’s update – pundit
Frank McAvennie has backed Tottenham to loan out Japhet Tanganga for next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker claimed that Spurs will need to loan out Tanganga to pay for new signings.
According to The Athletic‘s Charlie Eccleshare (8 July), Bournemouth are interested in a deal for the 23-year-old.
The centre-back has three years left on his contract with the London club.
The England youth international signed a senior deal with Spurs in 2020.
When asked if he thought Antonio Conte should be looking to offload Tanganga, McAvennie told Football Insider: “He has lots of players coming in.
“He might still like Tanganga. There’s two reasons he would go out on loan. The manager likes the player so they go on loan to get game time and come back and fight for a place in the team – there’s nothing wrong with that.
“Or, get him off the wage bill and let him go on loan. There’s nothing wrong with either and they both work well in England.
“Tottenham have to get him off the wage bill because the biggest shock to me is that Daniel Levy has put his hands in his pocket for the first time ever and backed the manager. Nobody saw that coming.

“So you’ve got to get players on loan, if you can get them on loan someone else will pay their wages, or a large chunk of their wages.
“Tottenham have brought some decent players in, and Conte sees players he doesn’t want and tries to get them out.“
