Jarrad Branthwaite to Real Madrid: O’Rourke shares big Ancelotti update today
Real Madrid are pushing hard to try and sign Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite to fix their defensive issues, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Carlo Ancelotti’s son, David, is “really pushing for this move.”
The Ancelotti’s had the chance to work at Everton previously, and David is said to be a “big fan” of the 22-year-old defender as he views him as the answer to Real Madrid’s defensive problems.
But with two and a half years to go on his current deal at Goodison Park, it is being seen as a difficult deal for the Spanish giants to complete.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that it is unlikely Everton’s new owners will want to send out signals that they’re willing to sell their best players as soon as they take over the football club.
Real Madrid will have to consider options other than Jarrad Branthwaite
Real Madrid are going to have to consider a “stopgap” signing in the January transfer window to try to fix their defensive problems until the end of the season.
The La Liga giants will then look to reinforce the back line during the summer transfer window, which could lead the club back to Branthwaite.
The young defender wants to get himself into the England squad regularly and feels that he likely needs to play at a higher level and play European football regularly to make that happen.
