Jarrad Branthwaite: Wyness can’t believe Everton star could now join Liverpool
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested “rumours” linking Jarrad Branthwaite with Liverpool are just “mischief from fans”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed he expects the Toffees to be busy in the transfer market, which shuts on 30 August, “until the very end”.
Branthwaite has been linked with Everton’s city rivals Liverpool in recent days, with reports suggesting the Reds are preparing a bid worth £70million.
The centre-back is currently out of action through injury and missed the opening-day 3-0 defeat at home against Brighton.
Man United were interested in Branthwaite earlier this summer and submitted a flurry of bids, but soon turned their attention to signing Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt.
Branthwaite not set to quit Everton for Liverpool, says Wyness
Wyness claimed fans will be nervous about more potential outgoings at Goodison Park as the club’s financial worries continue.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Everton fans will be biting our nails about outgoings and incomings heading into the last week of the window.
“I’m hearing a load of whispers about Branthwaite joining Liverpool during the week, which I think is more mischief from fans than anything else.

“Calvert-Lewin’s future is also yet to be decided.
“I think Everton will be busy in the market until the very end.”
