Jarrod Bowen: Mills claims ‘something’s not right’ after West Ham injury update

The West Ham medical staff must listen to Jarrod Bowen and not be guided by the scans after the latest update on his fitness.

That is the view of ex-Premier League defender and friend of David Moyes Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as Bowen remains on the sidelines.

Claret & Hugh reported last week (10 March) the 25-year-old had undergone a second scan on his heel had shown nothing – just like the first one.

ExWHUemployee revealed on his Patreon yesterday (14 March) he is now likely to miss the games with Sevilla and Tottenham this week.

Bowen has missed their last two games – the 1-0 defeat to Sevilla in Spain in the Europa League and the 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday (13 March).

“As a player, you feel something and you know something’s not right but a scan doesn’t show everything,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Scans can often show delays in injuries. An injury can be healed but it will still show on the scan three or four months later because there has been a trauma in that area. It’s healed but the scans will pick something up.

“Scans are great for a secondary issue but you’ve got to go off what the player and what the physio feel.

“If the player’s not quite right they will use scans to try and find what’s up. But if the player doesn’t feel right and something’s not quite right you have to go with that and treat the person as much as the acute injury.”

Bowen has scored 12 goals and contributed 11 assists in 39 games across all competitions.

He looked on the verge of a maiden England call up but his heel injury may scupper that.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has issued a verdict on West Ham owner Daniel Kretinsky’s links to Gazprom as an asset freeze is mooted.
