‘That is evident’ – Jason Holt makes Rangers transfer admission

Rangers midfielder Jason Holt has admitted the Ibrox giants need to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window after injuries ruled out senior Ibrox stars for a number of months.

The Gers are third in the Scottish Premiership – three points off second-place Aberdeen – with two games to go until the winter break and the opening of the transfer window and the Ibrox giants look set to be without Kenny Miller and Graham Dorrans for a large part of the second-half of the season after picking hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.

The Light Blues have lost both of their last two games and have lost a huge amount of ground to leaders Celtic in recent weeks ahead of Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Celtic Park and Holt believes the recent performances show that Rangers need to bring in “a few” new faces when the window opens on January 1st.

“We could do with adding a few players. That is evident on the park,” Holt said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“We need a few bodies in different areas but that is not for me to decide.”

“Any additions would be welcome.

“We have big players missing through injury and suspension.

“If we can get them all back it would help us.”

Before travelling across Glasgow to face Brendan Rodgers’ side in the second Old Firm of the season, Graeme Murty’s Gers face Motherwell at Ibrox on Wednesday night in a must-win match for the Light Blues.

With a 14-point gap to Celtic, anything less than three points would be the final nail in any lingering hopes the Gers have of putting up a challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.

Murty has already made one signing ahead of the transfer window opening next week after Welshman Declan John agreed to turn his season-long loan into a permanent move from Cardiff City.

In other Rangers news, three Gers players could play their final games for the club against Celtic this week.
