Jed Wallace sends West Brom message as crushing injury news emerges

Jed Wallace has sent a heartfelt message to the West Brom fans following the confirmation of his injury blow on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old has been a much more involved figure since the arrival of Tony Mowbray at The Hawthorns, having struggled to break into the team under former West Brom boss Carlos Corberan.

It has been a tough campaign for the former Millwall winger, notching only one goal and one assist in the Championship, which is far below his usual contributions.

West Brom winger Tom Fellows has largely kept him out of the starting XI due to his performances in the final third, but Mowbray will be calling for all his players to step up after the latest injury news.

Jed Wallace confirms West Brom injury blow

The Baggies confirmed that Wallace would be sidelined for “several weeks” after picking up a calf strain, with the player taking to social media to thank the fans for their support.

Writing via X [18 February], he said: “Thank you for all the well wishes. Been largely a frustrating season for me but I’ll be supporting the best I can over the next few weeks as always.

“Overall the lads have been great & we’ve got ourselves to 6th in the league with 13 games to go. Got a real chance to achieve something this season let’s move forward together in a positive way.”

He joined Josh Maja in the treatment room, with the majority of the squad now free from injury in a rather unexpected twist at The Hawthorns.

Tony Mowbray aiming for Premier League promotion

It has been an incredibly confusing campaign at The Hawthorns, having started the season so well and topping the Championship table to losing Corberan to Valencia in December.

A long run of draws has seen the Baggies fall to sixth in the table, just one point above Coventry City, but there is still hope under the new manager, even with Wallace now sidelined.

Signings of Isaac Price, Will Lankshear, Tammer Bany Odeh and Adam Armstrong should certainly soften the blow, but he seemed to be a favourable figure under Mowbray.

Daryl Dike’s return to the West Brom pitch has been a huge boost, having made his first league appearance of the season on Saturday (15 February), just in time to cover for Maja.

It will certainly be almost impossible to catch up to Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side at the top of the table, but finishing in the play-off spots should be a plausible target.
