Jeff Stelling names player Chelsea must ‘keep a grip of’ in huge Arsenal clash prediction

Enzo Maresca has been given an important tip if Chelsea are to get the better of Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title.

Arsenal are fresh from beating Bayern Munich, rather convincingly, in a 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium, while the Blues put Barcelona to the sword after Ronald Araujo’s sending off on Tuesday, 25 November.

While Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli were on the scoresheet, Declan Rice was a shining star for Arsenal, earning the Player of the Match award at the Emirates Stadium.

In West London, Estevao grabbed the headlines, and he could be key if the Blues are to secure an unlikely victory against Mikel Arteta‘s side on Sunday, 30 November. Still, it is not impossible.

Enzo Maresca must silence Eberechi Eze in Arsenal clash

Discussing the fixture, Jeff Stelling can only see an Arsenal victory ahead, but if Maresca is to battle back, Eberechi Eze has been highlighted as the key difference maker.

Speaking to talkSPORT (27 November), Stelling said: “It’s first against second, Arsenal face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Champions League conquerors of Barcelona and Bayern Munich are going head-to-head.

“The key here is whether the home side can keep a grip of Eberechi Eze, who gives Arsenal the creativity in the middle of the park that they have rather lacked before he came into that role.

“The Gunners have a very decent record in recent seasons at Stamford Bridge, and I’ll go for them to win 2-0,” which could see Arteta’s side take a more resounding lead at the top of the Premier League table.

When did Chelsea last beat Arsenal at Stamford Bridge?

It is fair to say that Arsenal usually get the better of their London rivals when the two teams meet, having gone unbeaten in the last eight matches between the two.

Fans would have to go all the way back to August 2018 for the last time the Blues claimed a win at Stamford Bridge against the Gunners, with goals coming from Pedro, Alvaro Morata, and Marcos Alonso.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi were the scorers for the visitors on that day, but meetings have been rather one-sided since that 3-2 result seven years ago.

Stelling certainly makes a good point about their history, and after scoring a hat-trick against Tottenham, Eze will be more than capable of sinking another of Arsenal’s direct rivals.
